Midlands and Wales Brace for More Flooding as Cold Snap Looms

On November 15th, 2025, the UK is still reeling from the aftermath of Storm Claudia, which brought heavy rainfall and widespread flooding across the country last Friday. The Environment Agency has issued 92 flood warnings in England, primarily in the Midlands region, as well as four severe flood warnings in Wales and six less serious warnings.
The worst of the weather occurred in the Midlands and parts of southwest England, with over 72mm of rain recorded in Little Rissington, Gloucestershire. The Environment Agency warns that "widespread flooding is probable from rivers and surface water across much of England," and that the risk of river flooding will continue through the weekend. Properties could flood, and there may be travel disruption.
Looking ahead, the Met Office forecasts that the heavy downpours will be quickly replaced by a cold snap, with the potential for snow and sleet to hit north-facing coasts and hills starting this Sunday and continuing into next week. However, the country will likely still be dealing with the fallout from Storm Claudia, as the Met Office had previously warned of the possibility of severe flooding in parts of South Wales and the Midlands.
