Michigan Braces for Arctic Blast: Wind Chills to -25°F!

Much of Michigan, including the Detroit area, is preparing for the most severe cold of the season. Wind chills are forecast to drop to a dangerous minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit by Saturday morning. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has emphasized the need for preparedness and checking on neighbors.
The National Weather Service's Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from Friday morning through Saturday morning, cautioning that exposed skin could develop frostbite in as little as 30 minutes. Temperatures on Friday are expected to remain near zero or in the low single digits, with overnight lows around minus 10 degrees.
This extreme cold is attributed to an Arctic air mass descending from Canada. While Michigan is on the northern edge of a larger storm system, it is still expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow to the Detroit area on Sunday. Residents are advised to limit outdoor time, wear multiple layers, and be aware of hypothermia symptoms.
