This technique bypasses the risks associated with using hot water, which can lead to cracked glass due to sudden temperature changes. Instead, a mixture of approximately two parts isopropyl alcohol to one part water is sprayed onto the frosty surface. The alcohol's low freezing point, around -89°C, ensures the solution remains liquid and effectively thaws the ice.
The prepared solution can be stored in a spray bottle inside the vehicle for immediate use. While highly effective for light frost, thicker ice might still require a brief scraping. It is important to note that isopropyl alcohol is flammable and should be stored safely, away from heat sources.
