Maharashtra Braces for Monsoon Fury: Orange & Yellow Alerts Issued

Widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected across Maharashtra in the coming days as the southwest monsoon intensifies. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for numerous districts, signaling a period of active weather.

The Konkan region, the Western Ghats, and Central Maharashtra are projected to bear the brunt of the heaviest showers, with the possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall. Specific areas like Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai are forecast to receive light to moderate rains and thundershowers. Districts such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are under a Yellow alert.

Further inland, North Maharashtra's Dhule and Nashik districts, along with the Nashik Ghatmatha area, anticipate light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Pune may see light rain with thunderstorms, while Kolhapur Ghatmatha is under an Orange alert, with light to moderate rain expected in Kolhapur and Satara.

The Marathwada region, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, and Akola, is also under a Yellow alert. Additionally, districts like Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal are on alert. Orange alerts have been issued for Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and parts of Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Nagpur, Washim, Yavatmal, and Wardha, highlighting the potential for significant weather events.

Meanwhile, nine districts in Uttarakhand have received an Orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, with remaining districts on Yellow alert, urging vigilance against potential disruptions.
