Fire boat crews also performed a rescue on the Thames.
This period of intense heat follows a record-breaking June for England. Forecasters anticipate warm weather will continue into the weekend, though temperatures will moderate slightly to about 26C. Other regions in the UK will experience more varied weather, with cooler, unsettled conditions expected sooner in northern and western areas, potentially including showers and a slight risk of thunderstorms.
