10 Aug
Summary
- Kanpur experienced sultry conditions with high humidity and stagnant mercury.
- Thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast for Kanpur and surrounding UP districts.
- IMD predicts intense rainfall activity in Kanpur division over the next 24 hours.

Kanpur experienced sultry conditions on Monday, with temperatures hovering around 34.3°C and relative humidity peaking at 84%. Light drizzle was reported in some areas, but intermittent sunshine and cloud cover contributed to the oppressive heat. Southeastern winds offered minimal relief from the high humidity.
Looking ahead, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for thunderstorms and heavy rain across Kanpur and several other districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Meerut. This weather activity is expected over the next 24 hours, with isolated heavy downpours anticipated in the Kanpur division. Increased moisture from the Bay of Bengal is contributing to cloudy skies throughout the region.
Weather expert SN Sunil Pandey confirmed the strong probability of overcast skies, thunderstorms, and rain in Kanpur Nagar over the coming 24 hours, with rain probability estimated between 72% and 100%. He further noted that the Kanpur division could expect cloudy conditions from August 11 to 13, with intermittent strong winds and scattered rainfall, potentially accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorms, and lightning.
