Kanpur Skies Tease Rain: Humidity High, Sunshine Prevails

Kanpur experienced a day of high humidity and misleading weather on Tuesday. Despite a 95% probability of rainfall, the city largely saw dry conditions. Dark clouds appeared twice, raising hopes for showers, but they ultimately dispersed, allowing sunshine to prevail.

Humidity levels reached 89% at the CSA University observatory. While the maximum temperature slightly decreased to 34.2°C, the minimum temperature rose to 27°C, making the nights warmer. Northeasterly winds offered minimal relief from the sultry conditions.

A yellow alert has been issued for the Kanpur division, forecasting dense cloud cover, light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in some areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a 65% chance of heavy showers with thunderstorms later at night or in the early morning hours.

Weather experts anticipate increasing atmospheric moisture and new weather systems will enhance moisture flow into the region. From August 13, the Kanpur division can expect cloudy conditions with intermittent strong winds and scattered light to moderate rainfall. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also possible, alongside strong surface winds in some areas. Sunny spells are expected, but humid conditions are likely to persist.
