Kanpur division experienced a dramatic weather shift on Tuesday morning, with heavy rainfall, strong winds, and hailstorms blanketing the city in white. The sudden change in weather brought a significant chill to the air and caused considerable damage to standing crops in various locations. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for 26 districts regarding rain and for 29 districts concerning dense fog over the next 24 hours.
Weather experts attribute the severe weather conditions to a western disturbance, with two more expected on February 6 and 9. These disturbances are predicted to bring similar climatic conditions back to the Kanpur division, along with rain and snowfall in the hills, further increasing the chill in the plains. The minimum temperature recorded was 12.8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 19 degrees Celsius, with the city receiving 10.1 mm of rainfall.
