Heavy rainfall across the Indore-Ujjain division caused significant disruptions on Saturday. In Burhanpur, overflowing rivers inundated residential areas, forcing the administration to close government and private schools for a second consecutive day. Indore itself received 15.9 mm of rain in the preceding 24 hours, experiencing humid and cloudy conditions.
Further impact was felt in Khargone, which recorded an average of 57 mm of rain, with Jhirnya receiving the highest at 96 mm. The intense rain damaged a bridge in Satavad, disrupting direct access and creating a 17-km detour. Additionally, entry to the Kunda Waterfall near Sirwel Mahadev was restricted due to flooding.
In Ratlam, over 65 mm of rain filled the Hanuman Taal, contributing to a seasonal total exceeding 330 mm. Authorities also opened a gate of the Kalabhata Dam to manage increased inflow from the Shivna river catchment area.
The Meteorological Department indicated that the three strong weather systems responsible for the recent widespread rain are now weakening. Consequently, no heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for the upcoming four days.
