The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Northeast India and the Himalayan foothills, expected to persist for the next five days. This intensified activity brings a significant risk of flash floods, with alerts issued for vulnerable districts in the northern hills and southern regions.
In the southern parts of the country, rainfall activity is projected to decrease. However, coastal and south interior Karnataka may still experience isolated heavy to very heavy showers for the next two days. Meanwhile, northwest India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, is bracing for widespread rainfall between August 3rd and August 8th, indicating a strong monsoon presence.
Further extending into northern plains, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab are predicted to receive widespread rain from August 3rd to 6th. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh is expected to see widespread rainfall, with western parts experiencing it from August 4th to 7th and eastern parts from August 3rd to 7th. Authorities are advising residents in flood-prone areas to stay vigilant and adhere to advisories from local administrations.
