North India Braces for Squalls as Monsoon Advances

Southern India saw considerable rainfall on Wednesday, with Andaman & Nicobar Islands experiencing the heaviest showers. Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep also received significant precipitation.
Conversely, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions continued across East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, West and East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an advisory urging citizens to take precautions against the soaring temperatures.
Beginning May 28, a strong Western Disturbance is expected to bring thundersqualls with speeds of 60-70 kmph, gusting up to 80 kmph, to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. Isolated hailstorms are also forecast across several northern states.
Furthermore, dust storms are predicted for Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Despite these storm activities, heatwave conditions will persist in some areas. The southwest monsoon has advanced into parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with conditions favorable for further progress.
