Monsoon Fury: Heavy Rains Lash India, Alert Issued

India is set to experience active southwest monsoon conditions on Wednesday, September 23, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting intense rainfall. Several states, including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, are expected to witness heavy to very heavy downpours.

Across central, eastern, and southern India, residents should prepare for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The IMD has urged vigilance due to potentially rapid weather changes. Delhi and its surrounding NCR areas are predicted to remain largely dry, although rainfall activity may increase later in the week.

Maharashtra's Konkan and Goa regions are likely to see widespread rain, with isolated heavy showers possible. Inland Maharashtra, including Pune and Nashik, may also receive rain. Vidarbha can expect heavy rainfall starting Wednesday and continuing through Saturday.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh anticipates scattered rain, with heavier falls from September 25. Jharkhand is forecast for widespread showers, while Bihar braces for significant rainfall, including very heavy spells on Thursday and Friday. Odisha may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

In the Northeast, Assam and Meghalaya are predicted to receive widespread rain, with Arunachal Pradesh and other northeastern states also likely to encounter similar conditions.
