IMD Warns of Extreme Rainfall Across India in Coming Days

As of August 2, 2025, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several states in North-eastern, southern, and central India over the next week. According to the latest weather bulletin, the Met Office has issued alerts for these regions until August 8.
The weather forecaster has warned of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya over the next two days. The North-Eastern and adjoining eastern states are expected to continue experiencing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for the next seven days. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and north Bihar are also likely to see particularly intense downpours on August 2 and 3.
In the southern region, Kerala and the ghat areas of Tamil Nadu are expected to receive extremely heavy rain on August 5. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana are also likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall between August 2 and 8.
The weather agency has also issued an orange alert across several districts in Kerala until August 6. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between August 2 and 8, in Gangetic West Bengal on August 7, and in Jharkhand on August 2 and 3. Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh are also likely to experience moderate to heavy showers during this period.
