North India is bracing for significant rainfall on Saturday, September 26, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting isolated extremely heavy downpours in Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh. The weather system is also impacting central and eastern India. East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha anticipate widespread rain, while Chhattisgarh could see widespread rain throughout the weekend. Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal are also expected to receive widespread rainfall.
A depression over south Chhattisgarh and adjoining south interior Odisha, located about 80 km east-southeast of Raipur, is expected to weaken. This system poses a moderate flash-flood risk in several districts of Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal, as well as a low-to-moderate risk in parts of East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
