Northwest India Heatwave Relief Incoming!
28 May
Summary
- Heatwave to ease across Northwest India in three days.
- Orange and red alerts issued for thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR.
- Strong winds up to 100 km/h expected in some areas.

Northwest India, including Delhi-NCR, is set to experience relief from the ongoing heatwave within the next three days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a shift in weather patterns due to western disturbances and easterly winds. This change is expected to bring moderate to severe thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated hailstorms to many areas. Alerts have been issued, with Delhi and Noida under an orange alert, while Gurugram and Faridabad face a red alert for impending severe weather. These thunderstorms are anticipated across the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains, offering major respite to Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. However, residents should prepare for strong winds, with speeds potentially reaching 60 to 70 km/h and up to 80 km/h in some locations. Certain parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience even stronger gusts, with speeds ranging from 80 to 90 km/h and occasionally hitting 100 km/h. Hailstorm warnings have also been issued for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, urging caution during these evolving weather conditions.
