Gurgaon Residents Endure Persistent Rains and Waterlogging

On Saturday, August 9th, 2025, the residents of Gurgaon woke up to continuous light rain that began around 5 am and has been lashing the district non-stop since then. Though the rain is not heavy, it has persisted steadily, causing widespread waterlogging and disrupting normal life across the city.

The Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh had issued a yellow alert for Gurgaon earlier, warning of thunderstorms, moderate rainfall, and lightning through the morning. Residents expressed mixed feelings about the weather, with some welcoming the relief from the heat, but others frustrated by the waterlogging on Sector 9, 10, and 15, which has made commuting a nightmare.

Authorities have urged people to exercise caution, especially around low-lying and flood-prone areas, as continued rain could worsen water accumulation and pose safety risks. Emergency teams are reportedly on standby to respond to any reports of flooding or accidents. This steady rain has lowered the minimum temperature to around 25°C, nearly 2.5 degrees below the recent average, offering a cool respite. However, the persistent showers have exposed the city's longstanding drainage issues, which the authorities will need to address.
