Water in pipes begins to solidify into ice once temperatures dip below the freezing point of 32°F, and the American Red Cross advised that the pipes most vulnerable to freezing in homes include outdoor faucets, swimming pool supply lines, water sprinkler lines, and water supply pipes in unheated areas.
The weather report urged residents to take immediate steps to protect their property, such as wrapping or draining pipes to prevent them from freezing. With the first cold front of the season approaching, the National Weather Service emphasized the importance of preparing for the impending freeze to minimize the risk of damage.
