Extreme Winter Blast Hits U.S., Over 80 Million Under Freeze Alerts

As of November 10th, 2025, an early-season arctic blast has gripped much of the United States, with over 80 million people under freeze alerts and at least 13 states facing significant snowfall and ice. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather warnings for several states, including Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and others, as record-low temperatures, lake-effect snow, and high winds have triggered widespread winter storm conditions.

Experts are urging Americans in the affected areas to take critical steps to prepare their homes for the extreme cold. This includes using humidifiers to add moisture back into the dry indoor air, installing thermal curtains to block drafts and retain warmth, and having portable fan heaters on hand as a backup in case the central heating system fails.

Additionally, residents are advised to seal any gaps under doors to prevent cold air from entering and warm air from escaping, as well as to bleed their radiators to ensure even heat distribution throughout their homes. With travel disruptions expected to last into Tuesday, the extreme winter conditions are set to continue challenging much of the nation in the coming days.
