DMV Braces for Storms & Flooding

Western Maryland counties are currently under a Flood Watch as an approaching front is forecast to bring significant rainfall, potentially exceeding 3 inches on saturated ground. This system, combined with another front moving north from the south, is expected to produce wet weather and possible flooding across the DMV region.

Tropical moisture is anticipated along the I-95 corridor, with the exact rainfall totals dependent on how these two weather patterns interact. Locally dense fog may also develop in the wake of heavy downpours. Overnight lows will range from the low 60s to around 70 degrees.

Sunday will see temperatures climb into the 80s across much of the DMV, with a west-northwest wind developing. The week ahead will start with partly cloudy, less humid conditions and breezy northwest winds on Monday, followed by sunny, low-humidity days on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the lower 80s. A return of humidity is expected by midweek.

Long-range forecasts indicate the arrival of a new cold front by Friday, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather developments throughout the early week.
