Delhi Drenched: Coldest March Rain in 6 Years!
21 Mar
Summary
- Maximum temperature dropped to 21.7°C, lowest in six years.
- Air Quality Index reached a satisfactory 93, best this year.
- Delhi experienced the wettest March in two years with 16.2mm rain.

New Delhi experienced a dramatic weather shift as rain and overcast skies pulled the maximum temperature down to 21.7 degrees Celsius on Friday. This reading was 10 notches below normal and the lowest for March in six years. The city's air quality also improved significantly, reaching a satisfactory AQI of 93, the best recorded since October 8 of the previous year.
With 16.2 mm of rainfall recorded by Friday morning, this marks the wettest March in two years. The capital had previously endured high temperatures, with readings reaching 36 degrees Celsius just a week prior, and even a high of 38.9 degrees Celsius earlier in March. This sudden cooling is attributed to moisture-laden winds colliding with an active western disturbance.
The India Meteorological Department anticipates a further increase in maximum temperatures from Saturday, likely ranging between 26-28 degrees Celsius. Air quality is also expected to shift to moderate. An additional spell of rain is predicted for March 23.
