Delhi's Winter Vanishes: Unseasonably Warm February!
16 Feb
Summary
- Daytime temperatures in Delhi have largely remained above normal this February.
- The city experienced only one day below 20°C between February 1 and 15.
- Meteorologists attribute the early warmth to a lack of active western disturbances.

Winter conditions have largely faded in Delhi as daytime temperatures have consistently remained above normal through early February. Between February 1 and 15, the maximum temperature only dropped below 20°C on one occasion.
The highest maximum temperature recorded so far this month reached 28.6°C on February 10, with subsequent days seeing temperatures above 25°C. Current forecasts suggest daytime temperatures will continue to be 1.6°C to 5°C above normal for the upcoming week.
A weak western disturbance is expected around February 17-18, potentially bringing increased cloudiness and very light rain. However, meteorologists do not anticipate this system will cause any significant cooling in the city.
Experts attribute the early warmth to an absence of active western disturbances impacting North India. December and the first three weeks of January were largely dry, with only two systems bringing rain late in January.
Night temperatures have remained close to normal, expected to range between 11°C and 15°C over the next week. Meteorologists indicate that winter is effectively ending, with temperatures likely to rise further.
