The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Saturday, anticipating thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching up to 30 kmph. This rain spell is attributed to a depression over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh moving towards Uttar Pradesh, influenced by a weak western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation. While heavier rain is predicted for Uttarakhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and north Rajasthan can expect lighter showers.
Despite the weather changes, Delhi's air quality remains satisfactory, with most monitoring stations recording AQI levels below 100. However, pollution levels may rise later in the post-monsoon season. Meanwhile, parts of Uttar Pradesh are on high alert, with the IMD issuing a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, and the state government preparing for potential flash floods.
