Delhi NCR Braces for Thunderstorms and Rain

The India Meteorological Department has forecast light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds gusting up to 60 kmph for Delhi and its neighboring areas on June 11 and 12. This anticipated weather event is projected to lower the maximum temperature to around 35-37 degrees Celsius on June 12. These showers are expected to provide much-needed respite from the ongoing heat and humidity that residents have been experiencing. Concurrently, attention is turning towards the advancement of the southwest monsoon, which commenced its journey across India on June 4. While its arrival was slightly delayed, meteorologists indicate favorable conditions for its progress into southern and central India.

Meanwhile, severe heatwave conditions persist in several parts of Rajasthan. On Monday, Sri Ganganagar recorded the state's highest temperature at 45.6 degrees Celsius. Other cities like Phalodi, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner also experienced extreme heat, with temperatures ranging from 44.0 to 44.8 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department predicts that these heatwave conditions are likely to continue in parts of Rajasthan in the coming days, underscoring the stark contrast between the weather patterns affecting northern and western India.
