Residents in some areas of South Delhi reported experiencing ground frost, a rare phenomenon for the capital, with temperatures dipping as low as 1.1°C in Sainik Farms. This was facilitated by clear skies allowing for rapid nighttime cooling and light winds. The daytime highs remained near normal, with a high of 20.6°C recorded, but the nighttime chill was palpable.
Forecasters anticipate a respite from the extreme cold by Thursday, with the arrival of a feeble western disturbance. This weather system is expected to alter wind patterns and slightly increase temperatures, with minimums projected to range between 5°C and 8°C. Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the 'poor' category and was forecast to deteriorate further into the 'very poor' category.
