Delhi Shivers as Unseasonal Rains Sweep the Capital

As of October 7th, 2025, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday, October 10th, and Tuesday, October 11th. This comes as a fresh western disturbance moves across northwest India, bringing a noticeable drop in temperatures to the region.
Both days have been placed under a yellow alert by the IMD, cautioning residents to expect intermittent showers and a cool, breezy spell. The maximum temperature, which touched 34.1°C on Sunday, October 6th, is expected to plunge to around 28°C on Monday, marking one of the sharpest dips this season. The minimum temperature, currently at 24.2°C, about two degrees above normal, is also likely to fall to nearly 20°C by Wednesday, October 11th, as cooler northwesterly winds sweep into the area.
This unseasonal rainfall has already far exceeded Delhi's October norms. Data from the Safdarjung weather station shows 51.8 mm of rainfall in just the first five days of the month, more than three times the October average of 15.1 mm. Meteorologists note that the ongoing spell could take the total close to 100 mm, potentially making this one of Delhi's wettest Octobers in recent memory.
