A pre-cyclone watch is now in effect for the northern coasts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh as Cyclone Ditwah has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal. This meteorological event is expected to bring intense weather to several southern Indian states. Tamil Nadu anticipates heavy to very heavy rainfall, with possibilities of extremely heavy downpours on November 28 and 29. Similar conditions are forecast for Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam, with varying dates extending into early December. Kerala and Mahe will also experience heavy rainfall spells.
Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning are likely across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Gusty winds are also expected over the islands.
