According to the National Weather Service, October 10 will see a low of 60 degrees and a high of only 81, a significant drop from the recent hot temperatures.
The weekend of October 11-12 is expected to bring even cooler conditions, with lows in the upper 50s and highs in the lower 80s. While slightly warmer than the historical average for this time of year, the cooler weather will provide a welcome respite for residents.
Unfortunately, the relief from the heat may be short-lived. The NWS Tallahassee forecasting office predicts that warmer and more humid conditions are expected to return after the cold front passes. Additionally, the ongoing drought conditions in the region remain a concern, with Bay County currently experiencing moderate drought and the northern parts of the Florida Panhandle facing severe drought.
Despite the lack of rain in the forecast, the National Hurricane Center is tracking one named storm, Tropical Storm Jerry, which is expected to curve out into the Atlantic Ocean and pose no direct threat to the Gulf Coast.
