22 Aug
Summary
- Hurricane Erin accelerating out to sea, but indirect impacts continue
- Coastal Flood Warnings and Advisories in effect for Maryland beaches and Chesapeake Bay
- High Surf Advisory and dangerous rip currents at Maryland ocean beaches

As of August 22nd, 2025, Hurricane Erin continues to accelerate out to sea, but the storm's indirect impacts will persist at Maryland's ocean beaches and along the Chesapeake Bay. A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for Anne Arundel County through Saturday morning, with the potential for moderate coastal flooding during high tide cycles. Additionally, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in place for other counties surrounding the Chesapeake Bay, where minor coastal flooding is expected.
The Maryland coast is also under a High Surf Advisory through this evening, with extremely dangerous rip currents posing a high risk of life-threatening conditions. Some beaches have been closed for swimming, but a gradual reopening is expected over the weekend as Erin moves further out to sea.
Despite the ongoing impacts from Erin, the weather in Maryland is set to improve significantly. A stretch of sunny, comfortable, and quiet weather is forecast to return today through most of the weekend. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s, with low humidity and a gentle northeast breeze. The upcoming weekend looks mainly dry and warm, providing an excellent opportunity for outdoor activities.
