China Braces for Rain/Snow Wave
3 Mar
Summary
- New rain and snow expected for three days.
- Strong winds to impact eastern sea areas offshore.
- Winter wheat crop to benefit from anticipated rainfall.

China is currently on alert as a fresh three-day period of rain and snow is anticipated. This weather system is expected to cause potential travel and tourism disruptions following the recent Spring Festival holiday.
Significant snowfall has already impacted Shanxi, Hebei, and Henan provinces, while southern China experienced heavy rains. The National Meteorological Center predicts an eastward shift in snowfall, bringing light to moderate accumulations to Inner Mongolia, northern North China, Northeast China, and northern Xinjiang. Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang may face heavy snow and localized blizzards.
Concurrently, South China is bracing for heavy rainfall, particularly in Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, and Taiwan. The forecast includes moderate to heavy precipitation, with a possibility of thunderstorms. Offshore, strong winds are expected in eastern sea areas due to an intensifying cyclone.
