China's meteorological authority initiated a Level IV emergency response on Monday in anticipation of strong winds and heavy rainfall across the nation.
The National Meteorological Center issued a yellow alert for high winds and blue alerts for heavy rain and severe convective weather. These warnings signal potentially dangerous conditions for several areas.
From Monday morning to Tuesday morning, strong winds are forecast for provinces such as Shanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, and Shandong, as well as the Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin.
Simultaneously, heavy rainfall is expected in southwestern regions, including Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, with precipitation potentially reaching 100 to 140 millimeters in some locations.
Severe convective weather, including thunderstorms, gales, and hail, will accompany the rainfall. Specific areas in Guizhou and Guangxi may experience thunderstorm gales strong enough to damage unstable houses and power transmission towers.
