Chandigarh Shivers: Coldest November Night in 8 Years!

Chandigarh experienced its coldest November night in eight years as the minimum temperature fell to 7.9°C on Tuesday, a substantial 3 degrees below the seasonal average. This chilling temperature is the lowest recorded since November 24, 2017. The India Meteorological Department has predicted a further decrease in temperatures in the upcoming days.

Cool north-westerly winds blowing through the region are responsible for the colder nights and are expected to persist, leading to even lower temperatures as the city approaches December. The maximum temperature also saw a slight dip, settling at 24.9°C, one degree below normal.

Despite a volcanic ash cloud from Ethiopia passing over northern states, visibility in Chandigarh remained unaffected, and the Air Quality Index was moderate. While the ash posed no immediate threat, officials noted that the falling temperatures could potentially worsen air quality by trapping pollutants.
