A heat advisory has been issued for much of Northern California by the National Weather Service, effective from Saturday at 11 a.m. until Monday at 10 p.m. Temperatures are forecasted to reach between 94 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
The hottest days are anticipated to be Sunday and Monday, with widespread moderate heat risk and some areas experiencing major heat risk. The National Weather Service cautions that these extreme temperatures could lead to heat illnesses.
Numerous locations are affected, including Central and Southwestern Solano County, the Motherlode region, Colusa County, Sutter and Yuba counties, various parts of Yolo County, Sacramento Metro, and the San Joaquin and Sacramento County Deltas. Western Stanislaus County and Central San Joaquin County, including Stockton Metro, are also included.
Safety recommendations include staying hydrated, seeking air-conditioned shelters, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and never leaving children or pets unattended in vehicles. Outdoor workers are advised to take frequent breaks in shaded areas. Residents should reschedule strenuous activities to cooler parts of the day and be aware of the symptoms of heat-related issues.
