Flash Floods Soak Bucks County: Rivers Overflow!

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of southeastern Pennsylvania, including Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. The warning was put in place on Sunday, August 23, by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. Meteorologists indicated that thunderstorms produced between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain by 3:49 a.m. EDT, with an expected rainfall rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Additional rainfall up to 1 inch is possible.

As of 5:07 a.m. EDT, flash flooding was ongoing or anticipated to begin shortly. The impacts include flooding of small creeks, streams, urban areas, streets, underpasses, and low-lying areas. Several major highways, including Interstate 476, Interstate 76, Interstate 95, Interstate 676, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, are affected by this flooding. The National Weather Service advises the public to 'turn around, don't drown' when encountering flooded roads, emphasizing that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
