Boston is set to experience a significant heat wave from Wednesday through Friday, with forecasts predicting extreme temperatures. Meteorologists warn that actual air temperatures could range from 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the heat index may surpass 105 degrees. This extreme heat has the potential to break historical records for the city, which include 98 degrees on Wednesday and 97 degrees on Thursday.

The week begins with milder temperatures on Monday, reaching the upper 70s, followed by a jump to around 90 degrees on Tuesday, with a chance of thunderstorms. The heat intensifies midweek, with Thursday and Friday potentially seeing highs approaching or exceeding previous records, including a 102-degree record from 1911 for Friday. "Feels-like" temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees daily.

Authorities are urging residents to take precautions such as limiting outdoor exposure during peak heat, wearing light-colored clothing, and frequent hydration. They also recommend checking on elderly or at-risk neighbors and utilizing cooling centers if air conditioning is unavailable. Preparations are also underway for potential thunderstorms throughout the week, particularly on Tuesday night, Friday, and Saturday.
