Baltimore County Prepares for 10-Year Snowstorm

Baltimore County is making extensive preparations for an anticipated winter storm, with officials declaring they are 100 percent ready. Brining services began earlier today and will conclude tomorrow, with salting on secondary roads scheduled to start Saturday evening. The county has amassed approximately 91,000 tons of salt, stored across 17 salt domes throughout the region.

Personnel and equipment are also being mobilized for the event. "We have about 500 pieces of equipment that we will be using during this storm. We will also be bringing in contractors. We have about 600 personnel that will be working during this storm," stated County Administrative Officer D'Andrea Walker. Residents are strongly advised to remain indoors and off the roads due to the unpredictable nature of the storm, especially given the long period since the last significant snowfall.

Cleanup operations will be initiated only after the snow has completely stopped falling. County officials estimate that clearing the roads could take up to 48 hours if the snowfall exceeds 10 inches. Residents are asked to exercise patience as crews work to manage the storm's aftermath.
