As Andhra Pradesh anticipates severe heatwaves, officials have been directed to implement comprehensive precautionary measures. Minister Vangalapudi Anitha emphasized that protecting human and animal lives is the paramount concern for all departments. The Heat Wave Action Plan 2026 was officially launched during a review meeting with District Collectors and disaster management authorities.
Strict adherence to departmental action plans is mandated to prevent any heatwave-related fatalities. Authorities are advised to consistently disseminate heatwave alerts to keep the public informed and safe. Outdoor work will be restricted between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., with special attention given to vulnerable groups like laborers, the elderly, and children.
Hospitals are to ensure readiness with special beds, necessary medicines, and ambulances to manage potential heatstroke cases. Public spaces such as bus stands, markets, and tourist spots will feature cooling shelters and drinking water facilities. Community groups are encouraged to aid distribution of water and buttermilk. The Fire Department will conduct essential safety inspections in hospitals and commercial buildings.
