26 Jul
Summary
- Northeast Heights received 1.74 inches of rain in just 30 minutes.
- A 78 mph wind gust was recorded, the second-highest in city history.
- Flash flood warnings were issued as arroyos transformed into raging rivers.

A powerful monsoon storm recently unleashed torrential rain and powerful winds across Albuquerque. The Northeast Heights bore the brunt of the downpour, with some locations recording an impressive 1.74 inches of rain in a mere 30 minutes. This intense rainfall led to flash flood warnings as normally dry arroyos transformed into dangerous, fast-flowing rivers.
Accompanying the rain was a ferocious wind gust of 78 mph recorded at the Sunport, marking it as the second-strongest wind gust ever documented in Albuquerque. The severe weather prompted the postponement of a local baseball game and caused disruptions for residents. While the Northeast Heights experienced significant rainfall, other parts of the city received much less, with some areas north of Paseo del Norte seeing minimal to no precipitation.
