The National Weather Service issued a forecast predicting a Monday night low of 3 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills plummeting to as low as -13 degrees.
These extreme weather conditions have prompted Akron Public Schools to cancel all classes for Tuesday. Similarly, the University of Akron announced that students on its main campus and Wayne County campus will participate in remote learning for the day, citing the severe cold snap.
While Tuesday is expected to be sunny with a high near 14 degrees, the wind chill will remain dangerously low at -13. Temperatures are anticipated to rise to around 35 degrees by Wednesday, bringing a 70% chance of snow.
