Widespread rain and strong winds are predicted for Aintree's Grand National event, beginning on Saturday, April 11. WXCharts projections show rain potentially falling at a rate of 0.8 to 1mm per hour on Saturday, accumulating to around 7mm. Peak wind gusts could reach up to 60mph, creating blustery conditions. These forecasts advise attendees to prepare for unfavorable weather throughout the day.
Beyond Aintree, heavier and more widespread rain is anticipated in southern Scotland and the Midlands, with winds in Scotland possibly reaching 80mph. Northern Ireland can also expect rain for the duration of the weekend. Temperatures in Aintree are expected to be cool, with a minimum of 7C and a maximum of 10C.
The Met Office forecasts a mix of clearing rain, heavy showers, and windy conditions with coastal gales in the north on Saturday. Sunday and Monday are predicted to be mostly showery with sunny spells and a possibility of thunder. The following week is expected to bring changeable conditions, with potential for further rain, especially in the northwest, before potentially drier and more settled weather emerges later in the month.
