Summary
- Russian missiles strike Flex Ltd. electronics plant in Mukachevo, Ukraine
- 800 civilian workers evacuated before attack, 15 injured
- Factory not involved in war, produced household items like coffee machines

On August 17, 2025, a massive Russian air strike hit a US-owned electronics factory in Ukraine, leaving 15 people wounded. The Flex Ltd. plant in Mukachevo, located hundreds of miles from the frontline, was struck by two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles around 4:30 a.m., according to Ukrainian officials.
The factory, which employed over 800 civilians on the night shift, was not involved in the war effort and simply produced everyday household items like coffee machines. However, it was still targeted in the latest Russian bombardment, which Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha described as hitting "civilian and energy infrastructure" across the country.
Dramatic footage showed huge plumes of black smoke rising from the damaged plant. Fortunately, the workers had been moved to designated shelters after an air-raid sounded, preventing potentially greater casualties.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, calling the Flex Ltd. facility an "ordinary civilian" site with American investment. The plant, which opened 13 years ago, specializes in plastic molding and electrical components for a range of consumer products.
This strike marks the first Russian attack on Mukachevo since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022. It comes as part of an ongoing barrage of drone, missile, and hypersonic weapon strikes targeting Ukraine's infrastructure, with hundreds of such projectiles fired in recent days.
