According to a recent announcement, the Norwegian government is set to contribute approximately 7 billion Norwegian crowns ($696 million) to provide Ukraine with critical air defense systems. This aid, which is being coordinated with Germany, is intended to strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russian air attacks and protect its civilian population.
The two countries are working closely together to ensure that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems, including Patriot missile systems and air defense radar from German manufacturer Hensoldt. Additionally, Norway is contributing to the procurement of air defense systems from the Norwegian company Kongsberg.
The Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Store, emphasized the importance of this joint effort, stating that "Germany and Norway are working very closely together to support Ukraine in its fight to defend the country and protect the civilian population against Russian air attacks." This aid comes as Ukraine continues to face relentless bombardment from Russian forces, underscoring the critical need for robust air defense capabilities.
