On August 30, 2025, the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania will mark the 24th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001 with a solemn tribute to the 40 passengers and crew members of United Airlines Flight 93. The annual remembrance ceremony, which honors these heroes as the first to fight back against the 9/11 attacks, will begin at 9:45 a.m.
The Moment of Remembrance will feature the reading of names and a moment of silence, followed by a wreath-laying and gate-closing ceremony at the Wall of Names on the Memorial Plaza. Visitors can also explore the memorial's Visitors Center and the Tower of Voices, a 93-foot-tall musical structure designed to honor those who lost their lives.
For the third consecutive year, the National Park Service and the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial will offer virtual education programs to schools across the country during the week of the event. The "Teach to Remember 9/11" initiative will allow classrooms to join the Moment of Remembrance via livestream, providing students with the opportunity to learn about this pivotal moment in history.
