According to local officials, the overnight strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region killed 16 people and injured at least 35 others, with the penitentiary facility's buildings being destroyed and nearby private homes damaged.
Separately, the Dnipropetrovsk region also saw four people killed and more wounded in the latest attacks. The death toll from these incidents makes it one of the deadliest attacks on Ukraine in recent months, as Moscow's forces continue to target the frontline regions with drones, missiles, and aerial bombs.
The governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, Ivan Fedorov, reported that Russian forces launched eight strikes on the district, using high-explosive aerial bombs. The situation remains tense, with the civilian population bearing the brunt of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
