Ukraine: US Chips Fuel Russian Missile Program

Ukraine's Defense Intelligence (HUR) has detailed foreign components found in Russia's upgraded Iskander-1000 ballistic missile. The agency identified 140 crucial parts, with a significant portion originating from American manufacturers. Companies like Xilinx, AMD, Micron Technology, and Analog Devices are implicated in supplying vital electronic components for the missile's guidance and processing systems.

HUR stated that 35 companies are linked to the production network for Russia's Iskander-M missile family. The newer variant, Iskander-1000, reportedly features an enhanced engine and launcher, extending its range to approximately 550km. Despite Russia's attempts at self-sufficiency, the report indicates a continued reliance on imported electronics, with only about 25% of the identified components being Russian-made.

The intelligence report highlights that 63 components are linked to U.S. manufacturers, while Switzerland and Belarus each contributed eight. Germany and Taiwan supplied four parts each, and China provided three. The most critical elements, including microprocessors and memory chips, predominantly come from American and Taiwanese firms. Ukraine's HUR is advocating for stricter international sanctions against companies involved in Russia's missile production network, emphasizing the need for global cooperation to restrict access to key technologies.
