Ukraine's Silent Laser: A Drone Killer Unveiled
13 Feb
Summary
- Ukraine developed a silent laser weapon called Sunray.
- Sunray can hit drones up to 1.2 miles away.
- The system is significantly cheaper than US alternatives.

Ukraine has reportedly developed an advanced, silent air defense system known as Sunray, capable of intercepting drones with remarkable precision. This prototype laser weapon was recently demonstrated, successfully destroying a small unmanned aerial vehicle mid-air within seconds, leaving no visible trace.
Sunray, previously codenamed "Trident," operates without sound or a visible beam. Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky stated it can effectively engage airborne targets up to 1.2 miles away. The system was developed in a swift two-year period, contrasting with lengthy development cycles for similar international projects.
