Ukraine's Electric Mule: Mine-Proof Powerhouse

Ukraine's Defense Ministry has officially approved the MUL.E, an all-wheel-drive electric military motorcycle built for demanding frontline conditions. This vehicle is capable of transporting two soldiers, carrying wounded personnel, hauling small cargo, and towing trailers over difficult terrain.

A key feature of the MUL.E is its ability to cross anti-vehicle minefields. Its wide off-road tires and low ground pressure distribute its weight, reducing the likelihood of detonating mines designed for heavier military equipment. The motorcycle operates with minimal noise and offers extended autonomous use, with a range of nearly 100 km on a full charge.

Adding to its utility, the MUL.E includes a detachable petrol generator. This generator extends the motorcycle's battery life and serves as a portable power source for frontline units, enabling the recharging of FPV drone batteries, radios, mobile phones, and other electronic devices, thus supporting units operating far from regular power networks.

Ukraine continues to expand its motorcycle procurement, with plans to contract for 1,500 motorcycles by 2026. This initiative is expected to save the state budget nearly $290,000 through competitive bidding. The operational success of these specialized vehicles will ultimately depend on their battlefield performance.
