A Turkish-operated cargo ship experienced a drone attack late on Monday near the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. The vessel, identified as the Cameroon-flagged Nadezhda, was reportedly struck by Ukrainian drones while sailing from Novorossiysk to Samsun, Turkey.
Russian vessels responded swiftly to the incident, evacuating the ship's crew. The Nadezhda sustained damage to its bow and living quarters. Of the 22 individuals on board, 13 were Turkish citizens. Initial reports indicated that three crew members sustained injuries as a result of the attack.
The ship was operated by Samsun-based Kalyoncu Shipping and was carrying fruit and vegetables from Turkey to Russia. While Turkish authorities did not officially name the perpetrator, the ship's captain was quoted as stating that six or seven Ukrainian drones were involved in the strike.
