Summary
- A hospital strike in East Darfur killed 64 people, including 13 children.
- The World Health Organization verified the attack on El-Daein Teaching Hospital.
- Rights groups suspect an army drone strike, part of the ongoing conflict.

The World Health Organization has verified a deadly attack on El-Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur, Sudan, which resulted in at least 64 deaths. Among the victims were 13 children, two nurses, and a doctor. The incident, which occurred on March 20, 2026, also left 89 people injured.
Sudanese human rights group Emergency Lawyers indicated that an army drone strike may have been responsible for the attack on the hospital. This action is reportedly part of the army's efforts to push paramilitary forces, the RSF, away from Sudan's central corridor and back towards their Darfur strongholds.
Hospitals have consistently been targets throughout Sudan's ongoing conflict. Since the war's commencement, over 1,800 individuals have died in attacks on health facilities, including 173 healthcare workers. In 2026 alone, 12 attacks on health care have been recorded, causing 178 deaths and 237 injuries, underscoring the dire humanitarian situation.
