8 Nov
Summary
- Saudi Aramco's Riyadh offices were damaged by shrapnel on Sunday.
- The Saudi-led coalition intercepted missiles targeting Riyadh and southern regions.
- No injuries or fatalities were reported in the attack on the oil major.
State-owned Saudi Aramco's administrative offices in Riyadh experienced minor damage from shrapnel on Sunday. The attack occurred in the King Abdullah Financial District, with no reported injuries or fatalities. This incident coincided with the Saudi-led coalition's interception of ballistic and cruise missiles aimed at Riyadh and the kingdom's southern areas by Houthi rebels.
The Houthis have not immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Previously, the group had targeted Riyadh's international airport multiple times, causing significant disruptions and fatalities. The conflict in Yemen, which Saudi Arabia joined a decade ago, reignited in July after a truce collapsed.
Separately, on Sunday, the United Arab Emirates reported rescuing 22 crew members from a fire on a cargo ship in the Sea of Oman. Earlier, UKMTO reported a tanker fire near Khasab, Oman, leading to crew evacuation. US Central Command also disabled a cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman that attempted to breach an American naval blockade.
