Rabbi Killed Shielding Wife in Bondi Beach Attack

Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a 41-year-old father of five, has been identified as one of the 15 victims of a terror attack that occurred during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14. Schlanger, who was British-born, had welcomed his fifth child just six weeks prior to the incident. Reports suggest he was killed while attempting to shield his wife from the gunfire.

The attack, which took place at approximately 6:40 p.m. local time, involved two shooters and resulted in 15 fatalities, including one child, and 40 hospitalizations. Among the confirmed victims was Holocaust survivor Alex Kleytman, who was shot while protecting his wife. The perpetrators were identified as a 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son, with the father killed by police and the son critically injured.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attack, stating that the nation is stronger than the perpetrators and will not be divided by violence or hatred.
